The 1000 SP in General

The SP1000 was designed as the factory's touring flagship, and was based on the very successful mechanics of the Le Mans series (frame, engine, transmission, suspension, etc).

The fairings were designed with the aid of the factory's well known wind tunnel, aiming at maximising aerodynamic protection.

The combination of top roadholding abilities (thanks to Le Mans "genes") with efficient aerodynamic protection, attention in built quality from the factory and the unique presence of Guzzi's transverse V2, make the SP1000 an excellent classic touring bike, able for any classic event, but also for any trip, regardless of distance.



A few words about the motorcycle on sale


It is built in 1982. It was recently bought by its current owner, being partly rebuilt, and he continued it.
Overall, the following has been done:
- The frame was sandblasted and resprayed, and wheels were straightened and resprayed.
- In the engine, piston springs were replaced, as well as camshaft (with a slightly hotter), camtrain was replaced with toothed gear system, flywheel was balanced and slightly lightened, carburators were replaced with Le mans units (PHF 36 BD/S).
- The front fork was overhauled and cartridges were replaced, also wheel bearings in both wheels were replaced.
- New steering bar was fitted, together with new exhaust pipes and silencers.
- Brakes and bevel transmission were overhauled.
- All rubber parts were replaced with new ones.
- The saddle received a new cover, and finally many peripherals were replaced.

After such an extensive rebuild, the bike feels like new and is quite willing in trips, having the Tonti frame virtues (stability and agility), the safety of combined braking and the power and distinct operation of the transverse V2.

It is registered in Greece, and can be readily classified as a historic motorcycle
